FAQ 1 - How long does the battery of the V-MP3H last?

Answer:
The V-MP3H includes internal proprietary Rechargeable Batteries (3.6V x
2) which will allow to use the V-MP3H for 2 hours and half. You can use
it longer by using the external Battery Pack PowerBank.
Finally note that when it is in use, the VMP3H LCD screen will automatically switch off after 2 minutes approximately of inactivity.

FAQ 2 - Can the V-MP3H be used to copy data files (which can be other than JPEG/MPEG/MP3) to and from memory cards?

Answer:
With its Copy function, it is possible to copy all the files from
your Compactflash card for instance to the V-MP3H Hard Disk - all the files
will be copied to a new folder named CARD0001 for instance. JPEG, MPEG,
and MP3 files will be accessible via the VMP3H, and any other file (i.e.
Word document) will be accessible when the unit is connected to the computer.
The V-MP3H doesn't allow to copy from its internal Hard disk to a memory
card when it is not connected to a computer. It does though allow to copy
from a memory card (i.e. CF) to another (i.e. SD/MMC).

FAQ 3 - What type of Hard disk can I install in the V-MP3H?

Answer:
The V-MP3H can be purchased without any Hard disk if you want to fit your
own Hard disk. The installation of a Hard disk is very easy: there are 2
screws to unfit, the Hard disk to fit in and connect onto the lead, and
put back the screws (you need to use a small screwdriver).
The Hard disk must be 2.5 inches and 9.5mm thick maximum, and it
must be formatted FAT as well.

FAQ 4 - Can the V-MP3H function as a USB card reader when it is connected to a computer?

Answer:
When you connect the V-MP3H to a computer via USB, you will have access to its internal Hard disk, as well as 2 other removable drives: the SD/MMC and the CompactFlash slots. Therefore the V-MP3H can be used as a USB card reader.

FAQ 5 - How long does the V-MP3H takes to display high resolution JPEG photos?

Answer:
The V-MP3H can take a bit more time to display high resolution JPEG photos than low resolution ones. To display for instance a JPEG photo taken with a 4 MegaPixels Digital camera (2MB size approx.), it takes 25 seconds.
A bit of quality loss can be seen sometimes when high resolution JPEG photos are displayed on the V-MP3H LCD TFT screen. |

FAQ 6 - I installed the drivers from the Setup.exe program under Windows 98, but the V-MP3H is not recognised.

Answer:
You need to run the driver installation program without the V-MP3H connected to the computer. After the setup has installed the drivers on Windows 98 and the PC has rebooted, connect the V-MP3H on USB - it should be recognised by the system. You will then have access to 3 Removable drives by opening 'Windows Explorer' or 'My Computer'.
If you have problems to get your V-MP3H recognised, you may have unproperly installed the drivers. In this case, plug the V-MP3H,
open the Control Panel, System, Device Manager tab properties: if you see a USB device (the V-MP3H) with a yellow exclamation mark, please click on the Remove button.
By plugging again the V-MP3H it will be then recognised with the drivers installed by the Setup program.

FAQ 7 - Will the V-MP3H cope with downloading Canon raw files (CRW) to its hard drive from Compactflash cards and Microdrives?

Answer:
The V-MP3H allows to copy all the files from your memory card to the Hard disk when you do as follows:
- switch on the V-MP3H with the CF or MicroDrive card inserted
- you have a Menu "DEVICE" with 3 options: A.CF/MDV , B.HDISK, C.COPY - at the bottom you see also "Auto - Copy to HDD"
- press the AUTO button - you see then the Free Space on the hard disk. Press Enter to continue
- you will see the files from your memory card being copied to the VMP3H until it stops and displays "File Copy Ok"
- all the files transferred will be accessible in the directory "CARD0001" (if this is the first transfer performed)
The V-MP3H will stored the Raw files (and any other type of file) but you will be able to access them via USB only. The V-MP3H displays only JPEG, MPEG, and MP3.

FAQ 8 - Where are the drivers for the V-MP3H located on the CDRom supplied?

Answer:
Please go the the directory drivers/MMV and choose the subdirectory 'Windows' or 'Mac' depending on the OS you are using.

FAQ 9 - How quick is the transfer from a memory card to the V-MP3H?

Answer:
Using the procedure as described in the above FAQ (7), it takes approximately 50 seconds to transfer a full CompactFlash 128MB.

FAQ 10 - Is there any function to change between PAL and NTSC?

Answer:
The V-MP3H exists only in either PAL or NTSC version. We advertise the PAL version as NTSC is to be used in the US.

FAQ 11 - Can you transfer files from the PC HD to the V-MP3H HD? i.e. can I copy a 1GB mpeg file to the player to be played at a later date?

Answer:
You can copy any file from your computer to the VMP3H internal HDD when it is connected via USB 1.1.

FAQ 12 - The device fails to start after displaying "Multimedia Viewer" - any advice?

Answer:
It seems that the Hard disk fitted in the V-MP3H has not been formatted. You can format it FAT32 via USB (note that for HD with capacities greater than 30GB, it won't be possible to format under Windows 2000 or XP.
All units we provide are pre-formatted in order to prevent this problem.

FAQ 13 - Can you copy files to the V-MP3H from a digital camera using the USB cable?

This is not possible due to the current USB technology. You can only copy from memory cards.
