FAQ 1 - I am very interested in the Image Tank but I would appreciate some more information.
Answer:
The Image Tank without hard disk comes with:
- An adapter to plug the Image Tank into the mains
- A car cig ligher cable to power it in your car
- A cable to connect the Image Tank to the USB port of your computer
- A CDRom containing drivers for the installation on your computer

A 2.5 inches hard disk will have to be put in the Image Tank (just remove 4 screws and fit the hard disk in) unless you buy the Image Tank with an internal IBM 2.5" travelstar hard disk.

There is no battery in the Image Tank, and if you want to use it as a fully portable unit, you will need to buy the Power Bank rechargeable battery pack.
The Image Tank has 2 slots for Compactflash and Smartmedia memory cards to copy their data to the internal hard disk, and via a Compactflash adapter Memory Stick, MultiMediaCard, and Secure Digital memory cards.

FAQ 2 - I received the Image Tank but there is no manual in the box.
Answer:
The manual of the Image Tank is available on the CDRom supplied in a PDF file. It explains the installation procedures for the different operating systems.

FAQ 3 - When I power on the Image Tank, it switches off.
Answer:
When you power the Image Tank, it tests the internal hard disk and then switches off because the internal hard disk is not partitioned.
Here are the guidelines to partition your internal Hard disk:

When the Image Tank drivers are properly installed on your PC (see the PDF manual), first boot your PC with the Image Tank connected to it (before switching on your PC, plug the USB cable to your Image Tank, then the power cord to the Image Tank, and finally the USB connector to your PC).
When Windows 2000 is ready to use, you need to go to the Win2K Disk Management tool (Go to Start / Settings / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer Management: Storage).
Then on the left bottom side of your screen, you should see the Disk of your Image Tank with the full space named "Unallocated".

- The following step is not required if straight at the beginning your read "Basic" -
On the grey left box (Disk x), if you read "Unknown", click on this box with the right button of your mouse and select "Write Signature" - click on OK on the confirmation request window. The label then changes to "Basic".
Note: you may have some problems if there more than one hard disk in your computer solved by disabling the second hard disk.
You can now create your partitions (up to 5 and formatted only with FAT16 or FAT32).
To do this right-click on the Unallocated Box and select create partition, choose Primary partition, type in the size of your first partition, and format it.

Note: To partition the Hard Disk under another Windows Operating system (i.e. Windows 98), you need to install the drivers first, reboot your computer with the Image Tank remaining connected to it, and using the FDISK command under a DOS window.
Important: Formatting and partioning operations should be done carefully and are under total responsibility of the user

FAQ 4 - Sometimes, the Image Tank is connected to the PC via the USB cable with the power on, but I cannot find the "Removable Disk" in "My Computer".
Answer:
Disconnect the USB cable of the Image Tank, then re-connect it and re-power on the Image Tank

FAQ 5 - Both LED lights are off, and on the LCD panel the first and last partition bars as well as the HD icon are blinking.

LCD panel

Answer:
1. The hard disk in the Image Tank might has been formatted with NTFS file system or formatted with Macintosh HFS file system. Image Tank supports only FAT16 and FAT32 file systems
2. There may not be enough space in the Hard Disk. Note: "Enough space" means that hard disk has at least as two times of free space as the target memory card's total space. For instance: If you are copying files from a 128MB SmartMedia card to the Image Tank, you need at least 256MB free space in the Image Tank.

FAQ 6 - Both LED lights are off, and the first three bars in LCD panel are blinking.

FAQ 11 - I bought the Battery pack for the Image Tank and I'd like to know if I need to charge it before using it for the first time?
Also how can I tell if it is charging or out of charge.

Answer:
You need to charge the battery pack for 8 hours before using it the first time.
All the information about the LED indicator is explained on a word document which can be downloaded here.
Important notice:
To use the Power Bank you must use the charger provided and not the one from the Image Tank.
The charger (car cig adapter) for the Power Bank reference is "Model No: LE-3 For LI-ION Battery", whereas the charger for the Image Tank is "Model No: LE-3".

FAQ 12 - I have an Image Tank with a 10 GB hard disk but its capacity is only 5GB.
Answer:
The capacity of the internal hard disk in your Image Tank is not fully used, or there is more than one partition.
You will need to partition your hard disk to suit your needs.
Note that if you want to use more than one partition on your hard disk, you can switch from a partition to another on the Image Tank by pressing on the middle green / P.P. button (when not connected to the computer) when it is in standby mode.

FAQ 13 - What file formats are supported by Image Tank?
Answer:
The internal Hard Disk of the Image Tank must be formatted FAT 16 or FAT 32 and can have up to 5 partitions.

FAQ 14 - If I try to load files from two memory cards to the Image Tank, would a duplicate image file name cause the old image to be overwritten or does the Image Tank sort that out automatically?
Answer:
Everytime you do a transfer from a memory card to the Image Tank, all the files stored on the memory card are copied to a unique folder created on the Hard Disk of the Image Tank.
When you connect the Image Tank to your PC later, you will access different folders which correspond each to a specific transfer (each folder's name contains a unique number which is incremented for each transfer).

FAQ 15 - How should I start the Image Tank to do copy transfer from a memory card?
Answer:
According to the manufacturer Level, the following procedure should be used to start the Image Tank:
1. Connect the Image Tank to AC adaptor or battery.
2. With no camera memory in either the SmartMedia or Compact Flash slots, press the "PP" (Power On/Partition Select) button.
3. Wait for the icon's on the LCD display of the Image Tank to stop flashing and leaves the "STB" (Standby) LED lit
4. Insert the camera storage media and observe that the appropriate icon is displayed on the LCD
5. Press the corresponding button (SM or CF) to begin the transfer process
6. After the transfer is complete and the Image Tank has returned to Standby you may remove the media and insert the next one to be read, if any.
If you have no more memory to transfer you can wait and the Image Tank will power down automatically or you may press the "PP" button to turn off the power

FAQ 16 - How does the Image Tank manage files copied from memory cards?
Answer:
When the HDD in your Image Tank is formatted and you do for the first time a transfer from a memory card, the Image Tank creates a folder named 0001.ITD. For the second transfer, it will create another new folder named 0002.ITD
If you delete any folder but the last then the next folder the I/T creates will be 0004.ITD.
If you rename or create a folder named 1119.ITD for instance, the next folder to be created will be 1120.ITD
If you don't want to interfere with the sequence of folder names, don't use folder names with the .ITD extension if you need for instance to create a backup folder.
Since the Image Tank doesn't have a calendar or clock, no date or time will appear as part of the folder creation.
The time and date your camera associated with each image will, of course, be retained in the folder and each image since the Image Tank saves the exact information your camera put in it's memory.

FAQ 17 - Does the Image Tank have a power saving mode?
Answer:
Yes, as when used in the stand-alone mode (not connected to the computer's USB port), the Image Tank will power down after about a minute when there is no activity.

FAQ 18 - Does the Image Tank adverstised on your site have the new or old USB connection?
Answer:
Yes, the Image Tank that you can purchase from our site uses a standard USB cable (USB connector on both ends) which can be easily replaced.

FAQ 19 - I transfered photos from my SmartMedia card to the IT, and when I checked the files on my computer, I saw that one of them was flawed - one half of the image was displaced relative to the other half. What should I do?
Answer:
To fix this problem, you need to format the SmartMedia card.

FAQ 20 - If the Image Tank doesn't delete the files from my CompactFlash card, how will I use it after a transfer unless I have a computer to format it?
Answer:
You can either format or delete all the files on your Memory Card with your Digital Camera.

FAQ 21 - After I have connected the Image Tank to my computer through the USB port, I can download and delete files from the folders, but I am unable to delete the folders that Image Tank has created?
Answer:
Your Digital Camera creates folders when you take photos with it. Therefore when you do a transfer with a memory card to the Image Tank, the subfolder created by the Digital Camera is copied with your photos.
If you try to delete then a folder created by the Image Tank, you may get an error message saying that the Directory is not empty.
To solve this problem, delete first the files, then the folder(s) created by the Digital Camera, and finally the folder created by the Image Tank.

Another reason is that the Image Tank can protect the folders it creates, and you will therefore have to perform a "Quick format" of your Image Tank's Hard disk.

FAQ 22 - The copy transfer with my Microdrive hasn't worked - why?
Answer:
When you use a Microdrive, you must format it with your Digital Camera and not with your Computer, otherwise you won't be able to copy properly files to the Image Tank.
Also it is recommended to wait 10 seconds approximately after the Image Tank is powered and the LCD has flashed to perform a transfer with your Microdrive - this is due to the fact that the Microdrive requires bigger power voltage and current to transfer data.
